Tara Rose
Young Alumni Award
2015

In the early 2000s, Tara Rose was a premiere student enjoying success in a variety of areas at North Attleboro High School. Unfortunately, during her senior year, Tara was involved in a life-changing car accidentin which she suffered a head trauma that affected her memory recall abilities. However, the hard work, dedication and persistence Tara employed during her recovery enabled her to graduate with her class and became staples of her career as a medical illustrator.

Upon graduation from NAHS in 2003, Tara enrolled at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. Ringling is a top academic and artistic institute that strives to prepare students to be visual thinkers as well as ethical practitioners. Before graduating in 2007, Tara distinguished herself in a number of ways. In 2006, Tara was named a Trustee Scholar in recognition of her hard work, talent, spirit, dedication and overall excellence. In the summer of that same year, Tara was accepted to study at the prestigious Illustration Academy, which was founded by illustrator and painter Mark English. This was an intense 7 week program that brought aspiring artists from all over the world together with some of America's most accomplished and well-known illustrators. It provided Tara with insight, advice from top illustrators, and an opportunity to enhance her own skills as an illustrator.

Tara received one final distinction before graduating from Ringling in 2007: she was chosen as the student speaker at the commencement ceremony. Honored and filled with "a new sense of self-achievement," Tara encouraged her classmates "to embrace opportunities as they present themselves." Following her own advice, Tara pursued her dream of attending Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

In 2009, Tara began the Master of Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration program at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. One of only four accredited Medical Illustration graduate programs in North America, this program is a leader in the field of visual communication for science and health care. It has been educating talented illustrators for over 100 years.

After graduating in 2011, Tara began working as a Medical Illustrator/Consultant/Interactive Project Specialist at MediVisuals, Inc. Her versatility has enabled her to perform a variety of roles within the company. For starters, she designs and illustrates medically accurate surgical, pathological, and anatomical demonstrative evidence to aid in expert testimony. She also reviews and interprets provided medical reports, photographs and diagnostic radiological studies, then translates them into visual stories resulting in various forms of large format exhibits, charts and timelines for mediation and courtroom display. Tara is also able to provide her expertise as she attends conferences across the country as a representative for MediVisuals, Inc. At these conferences, Tara is successful in providing her medical knowledge to attorneys through one-on-one interactions; in addition, she offers presentations and lectures to large groups of attorneys on topics ranging from technological advances in the court room to effectively using medical exhibits at medication and trial.

In March 2012, Tara had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Eduardo D. Rodriguez, a world-renowned plastic surgeon and expert in reconstructive and craniofacial plastic surgery from the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Along with Dr. Rodriguez, Tara and a team of 150 other medical professionals collaborated to perform the most extensive and comprehensive full face transplant to date. It represented a significant advance in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Tara's expertise, skill and knowledge helped her to research, design and illustrate medically accurate surgical, pathological, and anatomical images to be used by Dr. Rodriguez and his team of surgeons.

Along with her freelance consultation and work at MediVisuals, Inc., Tara began working at Fit Anatomy in 2014 as the Senior Medical Illustrator and Art Director. It is here that she designs, illustrates and animates medically accurate pathological and anatomical structures as they relates to fitness and the human body.

Along with her career, Tara is a fitness enthusiast who is currently training for her first national NPC fitness competition. She resides in Virginia with her fiancé. Tara's career and achievements thus far are a source of great pride for North Attleboro High School and our town. We are proud to honor her with the NAHS Alumni Association Young Alumni Award.
