ALUMNI AWARD WINNERS

Paul Joseph Belham Sr.
Honorary Alumni Award
2024

Paul Joseph Belham Sr., born September 14, 1957, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, has lived a life marked by resilience, service, and entrepreneurial spirit. His journey from the Sayles Dairy Farm to the helm of successful businesses is a testament to his unwavering commitment to his dreams and community.

Raised by his parents, Harry and Joan Belham, Paul's early years were shaped by his experiences on Mt. Hope Street and the Sayles Dairy Farm. Despite facing academic challenges at Norfolk County Agricultural High, his determination led him to enlist in the US Navy in 1974. Paul's service included a pivotal moment in 1975, stationed off the coast of Saigon during the evacuation—a crucial chapter in American history.

After an honorable discharge in 1982, Paul faced challenges transitioning to civilian life due to the stigma surrounding veterans of that era. Undeterred, he pursued his entrepreneurial dreams, starting a pressure-washing company with the support of family friend Jack Creed. Despite eventual challenges in the market, Paul's resilience led him to discover and excel in powder coating, a business that has thrived for over two decades.

Married to Nancy for 40 years, Paul is a proud father of three—Erin, Paul Jr., and Mandy—and a doting grandfather of four. His commitment to North Attleboro extends beyond business, with three terms as a Selectman and various appointed positions, showcasing his dedication to public service. Paul played a crucial role in bringing the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall to North Attleboro, reflecting his deep respect for veterans.

Paul's leadership roles include chairing the Barrows Park Renovation and fundraising to preserve the Police Station Clock Tower. Mentored by his father, Harry, Paul Briggs, and Antonio Casale, Paul's advice to students is rooted in his triumph over adversity. His commitment to providing jobs to the community is evident in his proactive efforts to employ migrants and support local workers.

For over 20 years, Paul has led Bell's Powder Coating with his wife Nancy, turning it into a thriving enterprise. Their dedication and success were recently recognized by the Small Business Administration, naming Bell's Powder Coating the 2023 Small Business Manufacturer of the Year for Massachusetts.

Beyond business, Paul finds joy in restoring old farm tractors, flying helicopters, and relaxing by his pool on Falls Pond. His story is one of resilience, service, and the fulfillment of dreams—a testament to the indomitable spirit of Paul Joseph Belham Sr.
