Stan Nimiroski
Joseph W. Martin, Jr. Distinguished Alumni Award
2024

Stan Nimiroski, a distinguished figure in the realms of quality management and executive leadership, proudly accepts the Joseph W. Martin Award—a recognition deeply meaningful to him. The award, named after someone embodying integrity, hard work, and a special connection with people, aligns perfectly with Stan's own principles and contributions.

A product of the North Attleboro School System, Stan's educational journey began in a one-room schoolhouse, culminating in his graduation from North Attleboro High School in 1960. Early on, he displayed a passion for music, playing in the High School Band and earning a spot in the prestigious Massachusetts All-State Band. His mentor, Ronald Christianson, the North Attleboro Music Director, played a pivotal role in shaping both his personal and professional success.

Post-high school, Stan graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1965, with a significant influence from Dr. Paulis in Operations Management. Engaging in URI’s Music Program and the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Stan laid the groundwork for a multifaceted career.

Stan's professional journey included impactful roles at Johnson and Johnson, CBS Music, Sony/CBS, and EP Henry. From Quality Manager to Executive Vice President and General Manager, his leadership touched various aspects of manufacturing and operations. Notably, he spearheaded the construction and operation of the first Compact Disc Plant for CBS Music in Pitman, NJ—an endeavor that commenced in 1986 and saw production start in 1988.

Throughout his career, Stan's leadership spanned diverse areas, from manufacturing and engineering to the production of LPs, 45 records, 8 tracks, cassettes, and ultimately, compact discs and PlayStation games. His contributions extended beyond corporate realms, with active involvement in organizations like the South New Jersey Technical Board, South New Jersey Management Group, Chamber of Commerce, and United Way. His work drew attention from both state and federal government representatives, and he played a pivotal role in the success of CBS Music's Compact Disc Plant.

His influence reached beyond the professional sphere, enjoying relationships with renowned producers and artists such as Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, and Bob Dylan. Stan also cares deeply for his wife Margot and cherished lifetime friendships, notably with Kevin and Betty Poirier.

Stan's innovative thinking transformed quality control at CBS Records. He conceptualized a computer-based technology that revolutionized quality control by teaching a computer to listen. This advancement became a cornerstone for improved and consistent quality in record manufacturing.

Stan Nimiroski's journey epitomizes a life dedicated to excellence, quality, and a passion for music. The Joseph Martin Award is not just an accolade; it symbolizes the ripple effect of his impactful career in North Attleboro—a testament to the positive influence he has had on industries and individuals alike. Stan's story is an inspiration, illustrating how dedication, leadership, and innovation can shape a legacy of excellence.
